Let's talk about menopause

Did you know what you could expect from menopause? Do you know now?

Many women don't. So much so that, today, 70% of women say they have no one to talk to about menopause.

At Paymani we believe that this important natural phase of a woman's life does not have to be a mystery... and talking about it should not be a taboo.

There was a time when women passed their personal menopause stories from grandmothers to daughters to granddaughters.

Fortunately, today there is greater transparency and more information about when a woman reaches menopause, often after the age of 45, when the ovaries stop producing the hormones estrogen and progesterone.

Here, we want to talk to you about 3 emotional and physical symptoms that can affect your life in some way and help you find a solution:

What can you expect from menopause?

Today we know that menopause can cause physical and emotional symptoms such as:

  • Change in menstruation, more or less lasting, more or less profuse and with a greater or lesser time interval between periods.

  • Sweating or so-called “hot flashes”

  • Difficulty to sleep

  • Vaginal dryness

  • Deconcentration

  • More facial beauty on the face

  • Humor changes

Hot flashes, a lot of honor

There are many women who, especially when they have hot flashes, express shame and are thinking about “not letting it be noticed.”

Many times this, beyond sweating, happens due to a social context: maturity is still uncomfortable and must be hidden.

At Paymani we talk about this a lot: we are proud to be a brand that embraces maturity, but there is still a lot of work to do.

When you feel ashamed: ask yourself if that feeling is your own or if it is more of a social concept. And let those feelings pass, don't hide them and don't repress them. You are in a normal stage of life, like adolescence (and pimples) and there is nothing to be ashamed of, quite the opposite.

Leave space for your emotions and you will see how quickly they pass.

Women have diverse bodies and minds

The dream

Hormonal changes at the beginning of menopause often alter a woman's biological rhythms. This can lead to sleep disorders, preventing you from sleeping the usual hours or reducing the quality of your rest.

To stay mentally and physically healthy, at this stage of your life try to reduce a lot of stress during the day and have recreational spaces where you can relax and disconnect daily.

Prepare your body for going to sleep: have a routine where your body slows down , dim the lights at home, leave screens two hours before going to bed and write or read before going to sleep.

This and following a daily exercise routine (not at the last minute) and taking care of what we eat will help us maintain an orderly life that will promote sleep.

Decreased libido

One of the common symptoms (not everyone has it) is decreased sexual desire. We recommend that, if this is your case and you are concerned, you consult a specialist.

This stage, like so many others in life, becomes a moment of rediscovery. Therefore, take it calmly, as a natural stage in a woman's development and, therefore, a new opportunity to reconnect with you. We recommend you explore, get to know yourself again and rediscover your pleasure and sexuality. This phase of life is a wonderful part where experience, wisdom and time come together, take the opportunity to re-know yourself.

Reconnect with you

We believe that women's personal experiences are our best sources of wisdom about this transition.

So we asked ourselves… What do you wish someone had told you about menopause?

We invite you to share your experience with other women in the Paymani community
